The work infuses a sense of fragility through explorations into space, scale and fluid details. Essentially complex emotions are smoothly articulated and fused into one organic unity. The physicality portrayed is not only the physical aspect of subjects, but also its invisible emotional landscape.
Fragile figures and thin lines, either flayed or plump, are monuments to personal history and memories, fascination and attraction for shapes, texture and fat. Reminders of our power, fragility, vulnerability, and beauty. I scrutinize the attitude responsible for our personal growth.
The sensation over the unknown and how to induce that. The works become an embodiment of metaphorical thoughts, the tactility becomes their language. the lines that touch each other and the points, ensure a logical consequence for the next and form a varying rhythm of tactility that passes itself on and forms into a whole. Searching and thinking through the image, to me, is an honest way to look for a certain ‘truth’, the truth behind accepting the arbitrairy. It’s about the search, searching a pattern, varying it.
Based in The Hague Holland.Graduated at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. Field of study graphic typographic design. The choice for this direction whas challenging for my nature and passion goes out to autonomous art rather than the applied design. However, I continued with this direction for the interresting aspect of a diffirent angle of approach. Note, how could I be autonomous when poured into the mould of a study in visual arts.
After graduating I developped more and more as a visual artist as well as working for a special effects/ props studio in Rotterdam. I have participated several solo and group exhibitions over the years at home and abroad (art Basel, Barcelona) with sculptures, paintings and drawings.
